Summer!

Its the pitter patter of Summer. Officially only spring, the start of day-light-savings is a line in the sand for anyone with memories of playing outside after! dinner. Newcastle becomes very busy. Walkers multiply on the foreshore. The Sunday sesh becomes more vibrant with Newcastle girlies keen to show off their tans and new Summer wardrobes. I am limited in saying that its only the girls, as I think its particular, or peculiar to Newcastle that the blokes may spend more time at the bathroom mirror. As a child of the 80's I cannot get to grips with the shaven haven that is young guys today. The hipster look is all over, the muscle bound hairless man has always been a Newcastle phenomenon. Can I be cynical and say that when i do notice them in their droves, they are beyond the hairless and into the interesting body stubble phase. I am too young to have one as a son, and too old for the young buck to be comfortable talking to me about personal hygiene…So i am left with the unanswered question, 'Does it itch?!" It must itch like hell. For the 4 days of smooth skin from a wax, is it worth it for all the scratching? Sure if your of the female species, you may have to sort yourself out before donning the bathers, mainly for the benefit of everyone else trying to enjoy the beauty the beach brings, or your own comfort for not having to wear mini 'I'm not really wearing shorts in the water if you squint..' board shorts. Next post will be my Summer essentials, Part One. What do you like to hunt down once the weather gets warmer?
